2008 AACU State Society Network Advocacy Conference
A wide range of topics were covered at the event and included such issues as:
- An overview of new regulations regarding the provision of ancillary services under Medicare
- Practical and legal ramifications of the use of Electronic Medical Records
- How to create coalitions with other medical groups to advance common legislative goals
- Physician experiences in advocacy and political activity
- Presidential candidate and state legislative proposals on universal health care
The list of speakers was equally varied and included
- Gadi Weinreich, Esq., National Health Chair and Partner at the Sonnenschein, Nath, and Rosenthal law firm
- David Donnersberger, MD, JD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University
- Howard Follis, a private practice urologist and founder of Intuitive Medical Software
- Illinois State Senator Carole Pankau, minority spokesperson of the Senate Public Health Committee
- Representatives from the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the Illinois State Medical Society
- Several AACU Board members and State Society Network representatives, including the AACU President, the AACU President-Elect, and the State Society Network Executive Committee.
